Natixis Environnement & Infrastructures (“Natixis E&I”), the investment manager of the European Carbon Fund (“ECF”), received the “Carbon Finance Transaction of the Year” Award from the Environmental Finance Magazine in September 2007 for a large coal mine CDM transaction in China, under the Clean Development Mechanism (“CDM”).

China, already facing the negative effects of global warming, has established a national observation network to help mitigate climate change. The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) yesterday said it has completed a national climate observation network to help mitigate global warming.

The technology to capture carbon-dioxide emissions from a power plant and store them underground is 10 to 15 years away from commercial viability, limiting the power sector’s ability to significantly cut emissions in the short to medium term, Duke Energy Corp.’s (DUK) top executive said Tuesday.
